This meeting matters because your child does. You know your child by heart. The school knows the system. I help you with the system, so the person who knows your child best becomes the strongest voice in the room, even with your stomach in knots walking in. No lawyer, no hourly meter, no fight.
I spent years on the school's side of the IEP table. Now I sit on yours.
You've probably been told you have two choices. There's a third, and it may fit your family.
Stay up reading about rights you half understand, and hope you remember the right questions when the room moves fast.
Send me the IEP. I tell you what it says, what it's missing, and the red flags. Then I prep you so you walk in ready and never freeze. One flat fee.
Bring in a $200-an-hour professional with a meter running, when what your meeting may need first is preparation.
Your child's actual IEP, ahead of time, through a secure upload link - never as an email attachment. It goes straight to my private, access-controlled account. That is the one thing I need to help you well.
The IEP Review. I read your child's IEP the way a special education teacher reads it. Then I tell you what it says, what it's missing, and the red flags a generalist would miss.
The Meeting Prep. A one-hour call where we practice, so you know exactly what to ask. You leave with a one-page "what to say" script to bring with you.
You shouldn't have to become a special education expert just to help your child succeed.
For years I was the teacher in the IEP meeting. I had the data, the goal sheets, the chair the school always sat in. From that side of the table, I watched parents walk in with the same look. Shoulders up near their ears. A folder of papers gripped a little too tightly. Eyes scanning the room to figure out who was who before anyone had said a word. I could feel how outnumbered they were, even in a room full of people whose job was supposedly to help. Some of those parents were sharp, capable people in every other part of their lives. In that room, with that vocabulary, they still got outnumbered. I saw it more times than I can count, in different rooms, with different families, but it never stopped landing the same way. It happened often enough that I stopped thinking of it as unusual.
There were meetings, more than I can count, where a mom would say almost nothing the whole hour. She would nod. She would take notes. She would hold her real question until the parking lot afterward, then ask it almost apologizing for needing to ask at all. By then the meeting was over and the IEP was already signed. I saw that same pattern again and again: the same tight, apologetic smile, like asking out loud in that room would have been too much. "She just needed five minutes before the meeting started," I remember thinking, more than once. "Not five minutes she had to steal after it was over."
Those parking-lot questions stayed with me. They showed me what five minutes before the meeting could change. Parents need help bringing their real questions into the room before the IEP is signed. So I do that work now, before the meeting, from your side of the table.
No hourly meter. No surprise bill. No courtroom, no combat with the school. Pick the level of support that fits your family.
Get fully prepared, then walk in on your own.
Everything above, and I am right there beside you.
In the Room is preparation and support, not representation. I am there beside you, not to fight the school for you. In the Room depends on meeting date and fit, since I can only be in one meeting at a time.
Coming back next year? Once we have worked together, the Annual Review Partner keeps me beside you year over year. I already know your child's file, so each annual review gets easier, not harder. $1,200 a year, including a mid-year check-in and priority access when a question comes up.
Want year-round support? Some families want me alongside them for every meeting and review, all year long. If that sounds like your family, let's talk.
Send me your child's actual IEP. Show up to one prep call. You'll walk in knowing exactly what to ask, what your IEP is missing, and what to say when the room moves fast. Or I'll prep you again, free, before your next meeting.
